My old 20 gal set up with Banana plant in the front middle, narrow chain sword I believe up front.. java fern, and a few other varieties I don't remember now. I bought the natural gravel and driftwood and I gathered the river rock and sand from a nearby creek. Attachments:

Yes I had several different fish in that tank, I had dwarf frogs, tetras and I believe there was khuli loaches in there too. I've gotten my plants from several places over the years.. the most recent is online at Drs Foster and Smith's liveaquaria.com they were pretty nice plants and arrived in a about a week

i had just added several more plants to my comm tank(55gal). it looks much better now. still want to put more in. have you ever used CO2 treatment in your tank for the plants. ill put up some more pics soon.+

I have never used it myself...I found that with the plants I have substrate and water fertilizers worked fine..but I have read about DIY CO2 setups.. they work very well from what I understand.
