Those are awesome! Were they already attached to something? I wonder what they are?

Nope they were just in the silt in about 2 1/2 to 3 in of water in the spring fed creek behind my house...its actually in the same type of water that feeds my well...fed by the same spring I attached it to a piece of driftwood I had that didn't have anything on it yet.. plus I put a little in two patches in my gravel.. now just to wait and see how well it does since I just put it in there... I haven't had the time to try to look it up yet but I plan on trying

Well they look great! That was an awesome find. And being its the same water, they should do well I would think. How much water movement was in the creek, I would maybe try to replicate that, some plants need it in order to thrive.
Something else to try for plants is Eco Complete and freshwater substrate from Caribsea. Both have beneficial bacteria for plants n makes start up of new tanks quick. I love this stuff n have it in all my tanks.
When you find out what they are let us know!

can you use plants from creeks and ponds in tanks safely? I would think that they would have bacteria in them if no how do you clean them up to use in tanks.. also are there specific types/kinds to avoid?

There is always a risk when taking something out of the "wild" and putting it in your tank. It is just a calculated risk. I know and trust the area where I am pulling the plant from..so I believe it is safe. I also rinsed it off before putting it in the tank. Just water, but I have well water, if you have town water you can't do that of course..so I would just use treated water in a bucket and clean it up that way .. some people use salt baths but I never had much luck with that I always end up killing it when I salt bath it. Other method would be to set up a little tank just for your new found plant, just to quarantine it. I've had lots of success with using "wild" plants in the past
