I was running a DIY filter on my 5 gallon before I moved everything around. It is a empty ketchup bottle with holes drilled around the bottom. It was packed with ammonia chips on the bottom, some gravel,a scrubbie, a sponge filter (just the sponge) and then filter floss at the top. It had a air stone in it as far to the bottom as I could get it.. If you haven't seen this before it works the same way a regular sponge filter works..the air moves water with it and thus the bubbles rising to the top brings water with it through the filter and the water that over flows out of the top of my ketchup bottle is filtered and remarkably clean

30 gal planted breeding tank with Livebearers and Cory Cats- 20 gal planted fry tank,29 Gal with Parrot Cichlid and pleco, 20 gal with goldfish and pleco (goldfish to be moved outside to pond once its finished), 55 gal in need of stand, and many 10's and smaller tanks to be set up
